About Pav bhaji recipe

It is a recipe of Mumbai street style pav bhaji, this dish contains butter toasted pav or pao(bun bread) & bhaji(curry) prepared by mashed veggies with special masala, easy to make at home with simple steps.

For boiling veggies Potatoes Carrot Green peas  Water

Ingredients of Pav bhaji

For making bhaji Onion, Capsicum, Tomatoes, Green chilies, Ginger paste, Garlic paste, Lemon juice Handful of Coriander leaves, Butter, Vegetable oil, Salt (as per taste)

Ingredients

Required spices Store bought/ homemade Pav bhaji masala, Kasuri methi, Spicy Chili powder, Turmeric powder, Cumin powder, Coriander powder, Black salt, Kashmiri chilli powder

Other Ingredients

For Toasting Pav/Pao  Pav or pao or Bun or Bread roll, Kashmiri chilli, Pav bhaji masala, Butter

Ingredients

Wash, peel & cut(potatoes & carrots), pressure cook with green peas and enough water, wait for 6-7 whistles. Turn off the heat. Once cools down, mash the veggies.

Making Pav bhaji

Heat a pan with butter & oil, fry the onion until soft, add chopped capsicum & green chillis fry it till soft.

Adding masala

Add turmeric & red chilli powder, then chopped tomatoes, sauté well, add salt, ginger-garlic paste, black salt, cumin-coriander powder, ground kasuri methi, pav bhaji masala(store bought/homemade), fry it well.

Mashed veggies in gravy

First mash the masala sauteed veggies, add fresh chopped coriander, add water, bring it to boil, then add lemon juice & boiled mashed veggies, mix well, cook it in low heat.

 Bhaji/curry is ready

Heat a tadka pan with butter, add kashmiri chilli powder, fry it for 25-30 secs, mix it with the curry. Let the gravy boil to get slight thick, turn off the heat, creamy Bhaji is ready.

Toast bun bread in butter

Cut the pav/bun, heat a tawa with butter, kashmiri chilli & Pav bhaji masala, put the pav bread on tawa & toast its both sides in butter. Pav is ready to serve with hot creamy bhaji

Best to serve this pav bhaji by sprinkling chopped onion, fresh coriander, sprinkle of lemon juice & a generous cube of butter on the top of the bhaji.
