Dahi chicken recipe - Bengali doi Murgi recipe story

Dahi /Doi (Curd/ Yogurt), Chicken, Lemon Juice, Cashew Nuts, Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Green Chillies, Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamon, Black Peppercorns, Nutmeg, Red Chilli Powder, Sugar, Salt, Oil, Bay leaf.

Step 1 - Marinade the chicken with lemon juice and whisked curd/yogurt until other ingredients are ready.

How to make?

Step 2 - Grind the ginger, garlic, green chillies, cashew nuts, whole garam masalas with little onion and little curd until get a creamy paste.

Prepare Masala

Step 3 - Heat a pan with oil, fry onions with bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and black peppercorn tempering.

Step 4 - Once onion gets golden, add the ground masala puree, mixing up with 1/4 cup of water.

Step 5 - Add chilli powder, sugar, and salt seasoning one by one.

Step 5 - Sauté the masala until masalas releases oil. Add marinated chicken in this stage and nicely coat with the masalas.

Step 7 - Roast the chicken until spices infused in it, raw smell goes off and get the chicken soft & tender.

Step 8 - Add little water for making a gravy. Let the gravy boil until thick and creamy.

Dahi chicken or Dahi murgh or Doi murgi is ready. Enjoy this dish with roti or Pulao.
