Chicken Masala recipe - easy Indian chicken curry recipe

Chicken, Lemon Juice, Yogurt or Curd, Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Green Chillies, Turmeric Powder, Spicy Chilli Powder, Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, Coriander-Cumin Powder, Garam Masala Powder, Salt, Vegetable Oil.

Step 1 - First marinade the chicken (curry cut bone in or bone less chicken pieces) with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, green chilli paste, salt & turmeric seasoning.

How to make?

Step 2 – In a mixing bowl, add plain yogurt or curd, spicy chilli powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, whisk well until get a creamy paste.

Prepare masala

Step 3 - Heat a pan with vegetable oil, fry onions until succulent, then fry tomato with salt seasoning for quickly getting soft.

Making chicken gravy

Step 4 - Once the tomato gets soft, add the creamy yogurt - chilli powder mixed paste followed by coriander powder and cumin powder. 

Add masala

Step 5 - Little fry the masala. Then add the marinated chicken in the pan and nicely coat with the roasted spices.

Step 5 - Roast the chicken until spices release oil, spices infused in chicken and raw smell of chicken goes off. 

Roasting chicken

Step 7 - Add water (preferably hot water), mix it well with the roasted chicken and spices, once gravy starts boiling add little salt as per taste.

Step 8 - Cover the pan, cook the chicken until the chicken gets tender, then add garam masala powder and stir well.

Cooking chicken

Step 8 - Cook the chicken gravy until get a semi dry sauce-like creamy consistency. Turn off the heat.

 Semi dry gravy

Chicken masala aka North Indian style chicken curry is ready. Simply enjoy this dish with roti or garlic naan or paratha.
