How to make Bengali dim bhapa curry - quick & easy

What is Dim bhapa?

Dim bhapa(bhapa dim) is a quick & easy bengali style steamed egg curry with hard boiled eggs marinated in mustard and poppy seeds paste and steamed. This Bengali egg curry is best to eat  with rice at lunch

5 Hard Boiled Eggs 3 tbsp Yogurt/Curd 2 tsp Mustard seeds 1 tsp Poppy seeds 2 tbsp Mustard oil 4 Green chillies 1/2 tsp Salt 1 cup of Water 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

Ingredients

Step 1

Hard Boiled the eggs (Chicken eggs or Duck eggs). Peel off the eggs once cool down and cut into halves. 

How to make dim bhapa?

Make a masala paste with soaked mustard seeds & poppy seeds, green chilli ,yogurt(tok doi) and salt.

Step 2 

Put the masala in a bowl add little water, add turmeric powder & drizzle mustard oil. Make a mixture.

Step 3

Put the eggs into the mixture and evenly coat the eggs with the mixture. 

 Step 4 

Transfer the marinated eggs in a steel tiffin box or heat proof dish, add 3 slit green chilies from top, close the box or dish with lid or aluminium foil.

Put the tiffin box or dish on another pan where already put 2-3 cups of water and steam the eggs  for 10 mins on low heat of the stove oven and Bhapa dim or dim bhapa will be ready. Serve it hot with hot steamed rice.
