Not only in summer, I often make watermelon juice at home for my son who loves it most. He loves all types of fruit juices but especially watermelon drink is top on his list. Fruit juices are always refreshing and healthy but I prepare fruit juice to make my kid drink lots of water through the juice which keeps him hydrated. This is the early summer and day by day heat is increasing in Bangalore so I started making delicious seasonal fruit juices or drinks for hydrating us. Today is the day of these watermelon drinks.
How to make watermelon juice?
Watermelon juice is very easy to prepare with a blender or a mixer juicer available at home. Ingredients are also simple, make it with red or yellow watermelon, sugar and plain water (chilled water) or ice cubes. If watermelon tastes sweet then do not make it with sugar. If the watermelon is not sweet then also adults are not recommended to have sugar, only if making it for kids must make it sweet.
Here I share 2 types of refreshing watermelon juice recipes that I often make at home. I generally make watermelon juice without water, by simply blending watermelon and sugar, and serve with ice cubes. The other one is a watermelon mocktail made with watermelon, mint, lime juice with soda (virgin mojito with watermelon). I generally prepare this watermelon mocktail at house parties as a refreshment drink. Preparing by simply muddling or crushing the watermelon, mint, lime and powdered sugar by hand, mix with fresh watermelon juice and soda and serve with ice cubes.
While making this juice do not worry if the water melon seeds are also blending with the water melon. Those seeds are not harmful, as in our childhood we had lots of watermelon seeds. If water melon seeds are blended with the juice, then you have to strain the juice before serving. However, I always try to make this juice after removing seeds from the water melon(shown in this video) to keep them served without straining. That will help to keep the roughage intact and all nutrition will go into the stomach.

1 bowl of Watermelon cubes(Red/Yellow)
2 tbsp Sugar(As per taste)
2-3 Ice cubes(or 200 ml water)
4-5 Watermelon Cubes
1 tsp Powdered Sugar
2-3 Lime/Lemon slices
1 sprig of Mint leaves
4 Ice cubes
200 ml Fresh Watermelon Juice
100 ml Soda
A Blender
Muddler/ Crusher
To prepare plain watermelon juice, take a bowl of watermelon cubes(without seeds) and put them in a blender with sugar.
First, blend well to nicely crush the watermelon and make a pulp.
If adding water, add 200 ml water, blend well for 30 seconds and the juice is ready.
Serve it in a tall glass with 2-3 ice cubes and put some watermelon chunks(optional) on the top of the drink.
Take 5 watermelon chunks in a glass, muddle (or crush) with a sprig of mint leaf, 2-3 slices of lemon and 1 tsp powdered sugar.
After muddling, shift the crush into a tall glass, add 4 ice cubes, add 150 ml fresh watermelon juice and 100 ml soda.
Serve this mocktail garnished with watermelon chunks(optional) and a sprig of mint leaves on the top of the drink.
